Special Financial Assistance Programme (Fully Redeemed)

Manulife Insurance Berhad (“Manulife”) will be providing special financial assistance to customers diagnosed with coronavirus disease (COVID-19).  

Details of the programme are as below: 

Programme Period 26 February 2020 until 30 June 2021 (Fully Redeemed)
Special Financial Assistance

Hospitalisation Income Support

A daily benefit of RM200 will be payable to the Insured upon being diagnosed with COVID-19, and:

  • assigned by Ministry of Health (MOH) to any of the designated hospitals /COVID-19 Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre in Malaysia for treatment and quarantine; or
  • follow the quarantine order from MOH to receive treatment and perform self-quarantine at home (“Home Quarantine”).

Total benefit payable for Hospitalisation Income Support is capped at maximum 30 days per life.


Compassionate Benefit

Upon death due to COVID-19, a lump sum of RM10,000 will be paid as compassionate benefit. 

An additional RM5,000 will be payable if the individual is a Medical Staff who works in a registered hospital in Malaysia or MOH designated screening facilities involved in the handling of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia.


Notes:

  • Hospitalisation Income Support is only applicable to eligible insured/covered person of Manulife. The coverage of Home Quarantine starts from 29 Jan 2021 onwards. 
  • Compassionate Benefit will be offered to eligible insured and his/ her immediate family members (i.e. parents, spouse and children up to age 18).
Eligibility To be eligible for this programme, the insured has to own at least one (1) policy with Manulife, where the policy must be:
  • issued prior to or within the programme period; and
  • stay inforce during the programme period.
Term & Conditions
  • This programme is not applicable to insured who is covered under any complimentary group policies offered by Manulife.
  • This programme will cease at the end of the programme period or when the total payout under this programme reaches RM1 million, whichever is earlier. 
  • Waiting Period: For policies issued/reinstated on or after 26 February 2020, Hospitalisation Income Support will not be payable if the customer’s diagnosis of COVID-19 occurs within 14 days from the date of the policy issuance/reinstatement.  
Exclusions

Benefits under this programme will NOT be payable for: 

  • any sickness, disease or death that is not caused by COVID-19 coronavirus; or
  • any pre-existing conditions that arise from COVID-19 prior to the effective date of the insurance policy.
