MANULIFE PROGRESS FUND ENHANCEMENT

Dear Valued Customer,

As part of our commitment to safeguard the interest of our policyholders, we wish to announce the following enhancement to Manulife Progress Fund effective 02 May 2023.

In order to better protect the downside and to mitigate liquidity risk, the Target Fund of Manulife Progress Fund may invest up to 20% of its Net Account Value (NAV) in companies which are part of the FBM KLCI constituents if there is lack of liquidity or when the Fund Manager deems necessary to reduce volatility of the Target Fund as part of its temporary defensive position.

Investment Strategy & Approach*

The Target Fund invests in a diversified portfolio of small to medium size companies listed in Bursa Malaysia which are not part of the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI Index (“FBM KLCI”) constituents. The Target Fund invests in a diversified portfolio of small to medium size companies listed in Bursa Malaysia which are not part of the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI Index (“FBM KLCI”) constituents.

*Note: The Target Fund may invest up to 20% of its NAV in companies which are part of the FBM KLCI constituents if there is lack of liquidity or when the Fund Manager deems necessary to reduce volatility of the Target Fund as part of its temporary defensive position.

 

This enhancement is expected to provide better management of the fund as part of its temporary defensive position and to navigate through market dynamics during uncertain times. Rest assured that the enhancement does not impact the terms of your insurance plan.

Q01: What are the reasons for making such change to Manulife Progress Fund?

A01: This change is to allow the Fund Manager to invest in certain companies with larger capitalization if there is lack of liquidity or when the Fund Manager deems necessary to reduce volatility of the Target Fund as part of temporary defensive position.
