30-Day Waiting Period Waived for All Medical Plans If Hospitalisation Due to COVID-19

Manulife will waive the 30-day Waiting Period for all medical plans if the covered person requires hospitalisation to any of the government hospitals designated by Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia due to COVID-19. Details as below:

Eligibility Period

Start : 24 May 2021 

End:  30 September 2021 or when the Manulife RM500,000 COVID-19 Relief Fund is fully utilised, whichever is earlier. [Fully Utilised]

Eligibility 

Individual who is covered under a medical plan with Manulife, provided that the medical plan is:

  • issued before or during the eligibility period, where the policy remains inforce during the period; or
  • reinstated before or during the eligibility period, where the policy remains inforce during the period.

Detailed terms and conditions and some FAQs are as follows:

Any claims under this benefit will be paid from the Manulife RM500,000 COVID-19 Relief Fund. Therefore, the benefit will cease at the end of the eligibility period or when the fund has fully utilised. 

Note: Any claims made under this benefit will also reduce the annual/ lifetime limit (if applicable) of the medical plan.

No, the Waiting Period of any non-medical plans (such as a critical illness plan) will still apply. 

For avoidance of doubt, medical plans under this benefit will exclude:

  • hospitalisation benefit riders that provide daily income based on number of days of hospital admission due to loss of income; and
  • critical illness rider/plan , including Beyond Critical Cover series that provide a lump sum payout based on Admission Events.

Yes, you will still be eligible for the SFAP2.0 if you meet the criteria of the programme.

You may proceed to file a claim based on the normal procedure for reimbursement of hospitalisation expenses.
