Special Financial Assistance Programme 2.0 (“SFAP2.0”)

Manulife Insurance Berhad (“Manulife”) will be providing financial assistance to customers affected by COVID-19 via SFAP2.0.

Details of SFAP2.0 are as below:

 

Programme Period

Start : 24 May 2021 

End:  30 September 2021 or when the Manulife RM500,000 COVID-19 Relief Fund is fully utilised, whichever is earlier. [Fully Utilised]

Benefits

COVID-19 Hospitalisation Support

RM200 daily will be payable, up to maximum 14 days per life, if the insured/ covered person is hospitalised and receive treatment as a COVID-19 patient under clinical stage 3, 4 or 5 at any government or private hospitals designated by Ministry of Health of Malaysia (“MOH”) in Malaysia. 

 

Compassionate Benefit

RM10,000 will be payable upon death of insured/ covered person that is due to COVID-19. 
An additional RM5,000 will be payable if the person is a Medical Staff.

Eligibility

Benefits under SFAP 2.0 are offered to:

  • Insured/ person who is covered by at least one in-force Manulife policy, exclude complimentary group policy offered by Manulife;
  • The person has never made any claims from the previous Special Financial Assistance Programme offered by Manulife;
  • Each person can only claim once under SFAP 2.0
Term & Conditions

For COVID-19 Hospitalisation Support:

  • 14 days waiting period from the policy issue or reinstatement date, whichever is later, shall apply.
  • Home quarantine or quarantine at COVID-19 Low Risk Quarantine Centre are not covered.


For Compassionate Benefit:

  • Only covers death occurs in Malaysia.
  • Medical Staff is defined as doctors (General Physicians and Specialists), traditional practitioners, nurses, paramedics, laboratory technicians, dentists, dental nurses, ambulance workers, or hospital administration staff who are working in either a Hospital in Malaysia or any of the MOH designated screening facilities involved in the handling of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia. Doctors, traditional practitioners, nurses and dentists must be registered with the Ministry of Health of Malaysia. The Medical Staff shall also include trainee doctor, trainee nurse, volunteers or retired staff that have been recruited by MOH.

 

Prior to any benefit payments, claimant is required to furnish satisfactory proof of claim to Manulife for claim assessment purpose. 

 

The benefits under SFAP2.0 will be paid based on first come first basis until the end of the programme period (i.e. 30 September 2021) or when the RM500,000 COVID-19 Relief Fund is fully utilised. 

 

Manulife reserves the right to change the term and conditions of SFAP2.0 from time to time, should the prevailing conditions and circumstances change.

 

Exclusions

Benefits under this programme will NOT be payable for: 

  • any sickness, disease or death that is not caused by COVID-19; or
  • death or hospitalisation where the diagnosis of COVID-19 is prior to the effective date of the insurance policy.

 

Here’s some FAQs for more details:

No. SFAP2.0 is a programme aimed to offer additional financial relief to Manulife customer at no extra cost. Any benefit payments from SFAP2.0 will not affect the policy face amount or coverage.

No. Each eligible person, regardless of number of Manulife policies owned, can only claim once from SFAP2.0.

Claimant is required to submit satisfactory proof of claim to Manulife for assessment prior to any benefits is paid.
