COVID-19 Private Hospital Medical Expenses Assistance

Manulife Insurance Berhad (“Manulife”) will be providing COVID-19 Private Hospital Medical Expenses Assistance for eligible Manulife medical card policyholders.

Details are as below: 

Programme Period 23 August 2021 until further notice by Manulife
Benefits

Reimbursement of the necessary medical expenses incurred from being hospitalised at any private hospitals in Malaysia, due to receiving active medical treatment as clinical stages 3, 4 or 5 COVID-19 patient.  

 

Amount eligible for reimburse shall be subject to the annual limit, lifetime limit and other terms and conditions of the medical plan.

Eligibility For all medical policyholders of Manulife, where the medical plan comes with the pandemic exclusion. 
Term & Conditions
  • Eligible person is only allowed to claim under this programme provided that the first day of hospitalisation at a private hospital is from 23 Aug 2021 onwards;
  • If the policyholder has claimed under this programme, the COVID-19 Hospitalisation Support from Special Financial Assistance Programme 2.0 (SFAP2.0) will not be payable;
  • Standard waiting period of 30 days from the issuance/reinstatement date of the medical plan, whichever is later, shall apply;
  • Excludes any medical treatments received from overseas due to COVID-19;
  • The amount eligible for reimbursement shall be limited to the Reasonable and Customary Charges that are Medically Necessary upon hospitalisation as an inpatient and subject to the respective annual limit, lifetime limit and the terms and conditions of the medical plan;
  • Deductible and co-insurance of the medical plan, if applicable, shall apply;
  • Payout under this benefit will reduce the annual limit and lifetime limit respectively. The No Claim Discount, if applicable, will also be reset upon any claims;
  • Guaranteed letter will not be issued for hospitalisation due to COVID-19. Customer will be required to pay for the medical expenses and submit the claim on a reimbursement basis;
  • Prior to any benefit payments, claimant will be required to furnish satisfactory proof of evidence at his/her own cost for Manulife’s claim assessment purpose;
  • Manulife shall follow the guidelines defined by Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia in assessing and identifying the clinical stage of the COVID-19 patient;
  • Each eligible person is entitled to only one claim per life under this programme;
  • The medical plan must be in force upon diagnosis, during the treatment and upon claim submission;
  • Manulife reserves the right to terminate the programme or alter the terms and conditions of from time to time, should the prevailing conditions and circumstances change, without giving any prior notification.
